Exciting News: Workshop and Christmas Milonga

Dear everyone
Exciting news: we are delighted to say that Andreas Wichter is coming to Aber for a Tango workshop the weekend of 15-16th December--and our Christmas Milonga will be on the Saturday evening.  There will be classes--suitable for all levels including absolute beginners or those who've done just a few classes--on the Saturday, before the Milonga, and another class, again for all levels, and practica on the Sunday late morning.  Private lessons will be on offer too, on the Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.  More soon, but I wanted to let you know as soon as possible so that you can put the date in your diary.  A whole weekend of tango in Aberystwyth--worth travelling for!! I'm taking bookings now for privates lessons, so do get in touch.
Best wishes
Jenny

AberTango this Autumn

Our weekly tango Practicas will re-start for the Autumn on Wednesday 17 October--in just a fortnight's time--at the Quaker Meeting House in Penparcau as usual. For directions see the map above.

These are practice sessions with social dancing, not formal lessons, but beginners are always very welcome: we will be happy to help you get started! We begin at 8pm and go on until late--but there is no need to arrive exactly on time, or stay for the whole session: you are welcome to join later and leave earlier if you need to. The cost is £4 (£2 for students).

We are looking forward to welcoming back those of you who've been away for the summer--as well as welcoming new faces: I have had a number of enquiries recently from leaders interested in joining, as well as followers, so it looks as though there'll be quite a few new people.

Do get in touch if you have any queries, otherwise just turn up on the night. Shoes with slippy soles are all that's needed (so that you can pivot easily): we don't dress up particularly. Refreshments provided. And if you can bring a partner that's good, but if not, no problem: it is customary for us to change partners throughout the evening and for everyone to dance with everyone else, so no-one gets left out.

If you're not on the mailing list, let me know (jfe *at* aber.ac.uk) and I'll add your name so that if we do cancel at all you will get an email. We are also looking at the possibility of organising some classes/private lessons with a visiting teacher, and I will keep you posted with further announcements!

Best wishes--and looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday 17 October: put the date in your diaries now!!

May Milonga!

A reminder that we have a special Milonga on Wednesday 2 May--next week!!--in honour of Wayne and Linda who will be leaving for Greece the following week. I do hope you will be able to join us for dancing and refreshments: a spring event to rival our wonderful Christmas Milongas and hopefully to bring some real sunshine and good weather! See you there! Important tango news

Dear all
Some news about Tango in Aberystwyth. We have decided to hold events every three weeks or so, rather than once a week, for the time being at least. With somewhat reduced numbers at the moment, we think this will mean more and better dancing on the fewer occasions when we meet. The next sessions planned are on Wednesdays 11 April, 2 May and 23 May--so please make every effort to come along then: put the dates in your diaries now!!

We are planning a special May Milonga on Wednesday 2 May: we hope you will be able to be there, and there will be wine and cheese as well as the usual dancing. In the meantime, see you on 11 April!!
Best wishes
Jenny

Tango News

Dear all
We are meeting regularly on Wednesday evenings as usual--and recently a number of new dancers have joined us, as well as people who haven't been for a while, which is wonderful. This has prompted me to update the mailing list--so please do let me know if you'd rather not be on the list, or if you know of anyone who isn't and would like to be. The main use of the mailing list (apart from very irregular updates like this) is to let people know if for any reason we cancel a session.

If you have been planning to come along for a while but haven't got round to it, now would be a very good time to start! Bring a partner (if you can--we change around anyway: in traditional milonga fashion the expectation is that leaders will invite every follower to dance in turn during the evening) and shoes with slippy soles.
We very much look forward to meeting you!
Best wishes
Jenny
